The Song is Paramount – The Importance of Melody and Emotion

Hi.  Just finished a session on Guitar & Harmonica for a fine vocalist, Diana Feaver.  Her brother, Tom Simpson, wrote a beautiful song entitled  “Everyone Everywhere.”  The trick was to lay down an acoustic guitar groove with Pete Pellegri on Drums & Barry Wesenfeld on Bass.  It was important to not get in the way of Diana’s vocal while at the same time providing some melodic fills that helped interpret the rendering of the story.  I try to never get in the way of the principle story teller while still maintaining a feel of spontaneity with the musicians.  I approached the song on Harmonica as a someone trying to listen and understand the emotion being revealed.

Cheers,

Brian
